On the Radar

People moves and events worth knowing about — a short list, not a long read.

People

  1. Megan Main → SIRA, Chief Executive
    14 August 2026

NSW's State Insurance Regulatory Authority has appointed Megan Main as CEO, effective 12 October 2026. She joins after five years running New Zealand's Accident Compensation Corporation, and previously co-led NZ's managed isolation and quarantine response. Replaces Mandy Young, who left in May.

  2. Elliot Hill → Departing as QBE Australia's Business MD After Seven Years
    14 August 2026

Hill is leaving QBE Australia's business MD role at the end of this month; GM of distribution Lorelle Hillman will step in as acting MD while QBE recruits his replacement. The exit lands in the middle of a bigger reshuffle — QBE is separately searching for a new Australia Pacific CEO after Sue Houghton, who announced her retirement last month, confirmed she'll step down at year-end. "Elliot has played a significant role in leading the business division through a period of transformation and growth while maintaining a strong focus on our customers, partners and people," Houghton said.

  3. Tim Wedlock → Posthumously Honoured by ANZIIF
    14 August 2026

ANZIIF has given the late AEI Insurance Broking Group executive chairman a lifetime achievement award, accepted by his son at a Sydney ceremony — a quiet, fitting moment for a man who spent 36-plus years building up everyone around him as much as he built his own business. The institute called him "a respected leader" who guided AEI through some of the industry's toughest conditions "with resilience, integrity," and a lasting commitment to mentoring the brokers who came after him.
